WHAT WE DO
PNSG is a community collaborative that engages service providers and stakeholders to coordinate services that facilitate newcomer settlement and integration.
As a local immigration partnership, PNSG conducts community-level strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, communications, research, policy formulation and project management – to improve social and economic outcomes for Peel newcomers, immigrants and refugees.
PNSG is a project of United Way Greater Toronto and is funded by Immigration, Refugees & Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Region of Peel and UWGT.
OUR HISTORY
Peel Newcomer Strategy Group (PNSG) originated from a pivotal community visioning session in February 2006 when participants called for a central planning table and community collaborative focused on settlement and social inclusion of immigrant families in Peel region.
With funding from the federal government, PNSG was officially launched in 2008; and in 2010, became part of the Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) initiative, developed under the Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement.
PNSG is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, the Region of Peel and is hosted by United Way of Greater Toronto and guided by the collective voices of community stakeholders representing multiple sectors.
OBJECTIVES
- Improve access to and the coordination of services that facilitate newcomer settlement and inclusion
- Improve access to the labour market for newcomers
- Strengthen local and regional awareness and capacity to attract, receive, integrate and retain newcomers
- Enhance partnerships and participation of multiple stakeholders in the planning, delivery and coordination of services.
